Saturday, Jan 05 - 2013 | By Odishabook.com

Tourists come to Odisha from various parts of India & abroad to explore its various tourist destinations. The main Question that comes to their mind is that how to reach the Odisha state. There is just one airport in Odisha at the capital city - Bhubaneswar. With a commercial port at Paradeep, Odisha has also opened its doors via waterways to the nearby countries & the state capital is directly linked to New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Allahabad, Patna and other places across India. The best time to visit Odisha is between November and May when all the festivals take place. Luckily this period also coincides with the coolest weather the year round. Makar Sankranti which is celebrated around mid January with harvest festivals in all the Villages, is a particularly nice time to visit the state. Other festivals are Adivasis Mela, the tribal fair from Jan 26 to Feb 1, Magha Saptami in Jan/Feb at Chandrabhaga beach, near Konarak, Panashankanti held in early April all over the state, Chaitra Parba in mid-April when the Santals perform Chhou dances at Baripada, Ashokastami in April/May, Raja Parba in June 14 to 16 & World famous Puri’s Rath Yatra held in July.

By Air: Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha serves as the most convenient point. There are innumerable airlines that fly on a regular basis to and from this city namely Biju Patnaik Airport Odisha is well connected with major cities like Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Nagpur Vishakhapatnam and Raipur etc.

By Rail: Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha serves as one of the most important railway stations of Odisha. There are a large number of trains that link Odisha with other parts of the country.

By Road: Odisha is very well connected to other parts of the country by road. One can easily get taxis and buses for traveling to the neighboring cities. The national highway in Bhubaneshwar links Odisha with Kolkata and Chennai.
